Tailored prostate cancer treatment

Over the years, prostate cancer treatment has immensely progressed. Doctors can now provide patients with a more tailored treatment. Indeed, advances in science, technology and surgical techniques have enabled medical teams to offer more personalized prostate cancer treatments.

DNA analysis for a personalized and optimized prostate cancer treatment

Dr. Ash Tewari, Chairman of the Department of Urology at Mount Sinai, uses a tailored treatment for each patient, even going down to the molecular level (genomic level). Indeed, Dr. Tewari and his team combine DNA analysis, imaging and specialized surgery for a more complete and precise cancer treatment.

According to Dr. Tewari, analyzing patients on the genomic level helps to better understand which kind of targeted therapy is best suited for every patient. Indeed, some therapies can work on one patient but may not be optimal for another. Some patients are good candidates for radiation and others may not. In other words, custom treatments using genomics can help achieve an optimum result.
